We were established in 1997 as the Rainier Historical Society but have changed our name to RABC (Rainier Area Building Community.) No! We have not disband the Historical Society (it works under the RABC). Yes! We are trying to help build up our community with the new in the old. The old historic school holds subsidiaries to the RABC: a 3 year old food bank, the Ol' School thrift store (which supports the utilities and helps support renovation), an art gallery (still getting this off the ground) and hopefully a soon to be library and museum (we must finish the interior). Please get involved and help.
What's New?
Thank You
We are excited! The exterior is almost done. A huge thank you to Parker Paints who granted us enough paint and primer to restore the outside of the building. The paint was applied by A Once Source Corporation, Russell Morgan. As soon as the windows and front doors are restored the exterior of the historic school will be complete. The windows bid has been accepted and we are just waiting for plumbing bid then state approval.
What's New?
Yes, again!
Restoration & Parking: We have been off visiting our legislators again. This time looking for an elevator and parking area. If you have any contact with any of the legislators please put in a good word for the historic school and what we are trying to accomplish and have already completed (food bank and thrift store.) We are going to need another $200,000 to complete these two areas. After that it will be landscaping and finishing the inner part of the building.

Asbestos
ASBESTOS. The last of the abatement was done by Advance Environmental, Inc. located in Olympia, WA. The building is safe! The coast is clear, air quality in the building is good (it's been tested and is safe, folks) and data is available upon request.
